IMPORTANT NOTICE APPOINTMENT CHANGES
Update 25th June: Online appointment booking is available- Please take advantage of this if you have online access. Please see below about online telephone appointments.
We are now able to offer telephone appointments for problems which you feel can be dealt with over the phone by a clinician. This new service is available at all sites for all patients. Reception can book these for you and they are as a trial available online. Please ensure we have an up to date telephone number preferably a landline number so the clinician can contact you.
From Monday 30th June the surgery will be starting a phased introduction of a new appointment system. We hope that the new system will significantly improve access. Over the next few months we will be trialling various components prior to a full launch of the finalised scheme.
Among the planned introductions is the ability to book telephone appointments, improved online booking, a new advanced telephone system(local number) & daily clinics in Roos for those who have a problem that need same day treatment. We will also be working hard to improve waiting times in the surgery.
As the first trial of the new system all patients requesting same day appointments & home visits will be telephone triaged. Many problems that present to General Practice can be dealt with on the phone in significantly less time than in the surgery & similar systems have been successful throughout the country. Alternative arrangements will be made for those patients who are unsuitable for telephone assessment(e.g. hearing difficulties).
So we can continue to improve access we request that whenever a problem does not need to be dealt with on the day patients book an in advance appointment & remember to attend or cancel any appointments they no longer require. We continue to have a very significant number of missed appointments each week.
As with all significant changes the will be teething problems & we will be asking for patient feedback along the way.
We will publish further details on the surgery website & in the surgery shortly.
